Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving this year was fun and quiet. John got up early and went to the church turkey bowl where apparently he killed it! I had people coming up to me at church asking if my husband played in high school or college.  He is a man with many many talents. I started out my morning with a workout and the boys enjoyed Transformer cartoons. We just kind of hung out all day. Jacob and John took a long nap together while Jackson and I prepared the food.

We went totally non traditional and had Mexican food. I have opinions on Thanksgiving that I won't bother with but if I were to eat Lobster on Thanksgiving it would be more traditional than Turkey. Which kind of sounds fun for next year!! So we decided why not eat what we love? I made Tostados and we loved it!
I made apple pie. It was super yummy. Golden Delicious apples are a staple in our house and they make the best apple pie.
Here are my ridiculously wonderful tostados :) I ate every single little bite.
I knew Jacob wasn't going to eat one so I made him and Jackson a few taquitos since they love those.
But Jackson was willing to give tostados a try and it was super cute to watch him try to eat that!
Apple pie and vanilla bean ice cream.
Jackson and Jacob just wanted ice cream in their cute little ice cream cups.

I loved watching Jacob with his ice cream! So cute to see him try to pick it up off the table.
While I was being entertained by Jacob and his ice cream, John and Jackson cleaned the kitchen and I didn't even ask them to! It was wonderful!

We spent the rest of the night playing games and just hanging out as a family. It was perfect.

I was resting on the couch and Jackson climbed up and snuggled with me. That was enough to just knock me out. He was totally fake sleeping in this picture!
The next day we stayed inside all day long because of Black Friday. I am not a fan. So we spent lots of time playing and just having fun! Jackson and Jacob love playing super heroes and for some reason they always make me be the bad guy.

I hope everyone had a fun Thanksgiving!

I love that you have a non-traditional Thanksgiving. I have my opinions about Thanksgiving as well and feel that it's so overlooked among other things. Your day looked absolutely perfect but I expect nothing less coming from Miss Jami. Your boys are too cute for words. I miss your happy, smiling, beautiful face.
